Freed-Hardeman University Honors Mr. and Miss FHU 2023

Henderson, TN (04/28/2023) — Freed-Hardeman University announced Mr. and Miss FHU 2023 Thursday, April 27, at a special chapel presentation. Chosen by the student body from a slate of eight nominees, winners are Jon Moore, a law and politics major from Somerset, Kentucky, and Catherine Crabb, an elementary education major from Meridianville, Alabama.

Moore has been vice president of the Student Government Association and a member of the FHU Lion Basketball Team, Honors College and Interclub Council. He is also the inaugural president of Omega Chi social club. Crabb is an all-conference player for the Lady Lion Softball Team and a member of Competitors for Christ and Alpha Chi National Honor Society. She is also an officer in Omega Chi.

"The thing I appreciate most about Freed-Hardeman is the theme of constant opportunity," Moore said. "There are always ways to get involved. No matter what you want to do, there are countless doors opening and countless people willing to help. I am forever grateful for the opportunities Freed-Hardeman gave me for leadership, personal growth and friendship." Moore is the son of Jonathan and Kimberly Moore.

"I appreciate how much this place is 'family' to me - my church family, my team family and the Freed-Hardeman family as a whole," Crabb said. "I appreciate how my professors pour so much into me as a person. They keep up with your life outside the classroom, cheer you on and continue to pour into you after you leave. Most of all, I appreciate that I can confidently say I have become a better person, teammate, friend, teacher and Christian than when I first stepped foot on campus." She is the daughter of Kevin and Shannon Crabb.

Other nominees for Mr. FHU included: Johnson Ramsey, a Bible and history major from Tupelo, Mississippi; Chase Rowe, an accounting major from Tupelo, Mississippi; and John Sadler, a biology major from Katy, Texas.

Additional candidates for Miss FHU were: Brinlee Benson, an elementary education major from Ringgold, Georgia; Caroline Grisham, a kinesiology major from Corinth, Mississippi; and Brooke Roberts, a biology major from Knoxville, Tennessee.

For more than 80 years, Freed-Hardeman has maintained this tradition of honoring exemplary students. "This time-honored custom allows the campus community to celebrate our students and those who best represent the ideals inherent in our mission," Director of Alumni Engagement Chris Ramey said.

FHU President David R. Shannon and First Lady Tracie Shannon hosted a breakfast reception for the nominees and their families prior to the chapel program.

The mission of Freed-Hardeman University is to help students develop their God-given talents for His glory by empowering them with an education that integrates Christian faith, scholarship and service. With locations in Henderson and Memphis, FHU offers bachelor's, master's, specialist's and doctoral degrees. More information is available at http://fhu.edu.
