Eight Seniors Nominated for the Titles of Mr. and Miss FHU
Winners To Be Announced April 24
Henderson, TN (04/09/2025) — Freed-Hardeman University's tradition of honoring outstanding seniors continues for the 85th year, as faculty and students have selected eight finalists for the title of Mr. and Miss FHU. All nominees were chosen based on their positive influence, campus involvement, servant leadership and academic excellence. These students will be honored with a reception Thursday, April 24, at 9:30 a.m., in the Hope Barber Shull Academic Resource Center, and winners will be announced at 10:30 a.m. during a chapel presentation in Dryden Auditorium.
Nominees for the title of Mr. FHU include: Max Ballard, Garyson Campbell, Campbell Scott, and Carter Welch. Ballard, a marketing major from Columbia, Tennessee, has been active in the Society of Future Marketers, Buster Bowl football, and the Phi Kappa Alpha social club, where he has served as president, vice president and sports captain. Campbell, a psychology major from Muscle Shoals, Alabama, has participated in the Campus Delegate Team, the Psi Chi Honor Society, Phi Kappa Alpha, missions group, and Makin' Music, where he served as an Omega Chi club director and later as a host.
Scott, a biology major from Jackson, Tennessee, has served as a counselor at Mid-South Youth Camp and been involved in Xi Chi Delta and Phi Kappa Alpha social clubs, Alpha Chi Honor Society, and Makin' Music. Welch, a public relations major from Henderson, Tennessee, has worked as the head boys counselor at Mid-South Youth Camp, president and vice president of Xi Chi Delta, and sports information intern for the athletic department.
Miss FHU finalists include: Mallorie Gardner, Brenna Hobgood, Brylee King and Anna Mae Ramsey. Gardner, a Spanish and speech communications major from Floyd, Virginia, has participated in the Honors College, Campus Delegate Team, Alpha Chi Honors Society, Student Library Advisory Board, and Chi Beta Chi social club. Hobgood, a social work major from Smyrna, Tennessee, has served Xi Chi Delta in multiple leadership roles, including women's president, vice president, community service representative and class representative.
King, an elementary education major from Neosho, Missouri, has been a member of the Campus Delegate Team, president of the Teach Club, and a Makin' Music director, sports captain and advertisement manager for Chi Beta Chi. Ramsey, an accounting and MBA student from Tupelo, Mississippi, has been active in Phi Kappa Alpha, the Campus Delegate Team, Alpha Chi Honor Society, Delta Mu Delta, the Society of Future Accountants, the Honors College, FHU Abroad, mission trips to Panama, and FHU's women's soccer team during her freshman year.
"These eight nominees represent the highest ideals of faith, scholarship and service that Freed-Hardeman University aims to cultivate in our students," Director of Alumni Engagement Chris Ramey said. "We are so proud of what these young men and women have accomplished thus far in their educational journeys, and we look forward to celebrating two of them as our next Mr. and Miss FHU."
